Dear Friends,

As you may all know, there was an update on the Ragnarok Violet app that fixed the red herb drop problem.  (No wonder why it was so hard to find 'em! Grrrr....)  Furthermore, the herb and some gem drops were corrected.  Because of this, I did some research and roamed around the Kingdom of Rune Midgartz once again.  Oh, I'm using the spelling with a "Z" because it looks cooler.  The game is very inconsistent at the moment.  The translations are wrong.  The grammars are incorrect.  Sometimes it's Midgarts.  Sometimes Midgartz.  (Shouldn't it be Midgard anyway?! Hahaha.)  Anyhow, just bear with it everyone.  Gravity will resolve everything in the future...hopefully.  /heh

By the way, I have very good news!  Finally, I finished the game!  I wasn't happy when I defeated the Dark Lord though.  I shouldn't have saved my game after defeating him. /swt

A lot of things changed.  All monsters now have their elements and they got way stronger than their pre-Dark Lord counterparts.  Fifty-four (54) levels to be exact!  The drops were reshuffled and got more confusing.  I think they randomized everything.  That means I will have to do more research on the post-Dark Lord realm

Lastly, I have updated most of the articles in this blog and added another article on the Lord Knight & Paladin skills.  Thanks to everyone's help, we have completed a workable database that all Ragnarok Violet players can use as a reference.  My deepest thanks to all our friends who have made it all possible. /no1

Ragnarok Violet - Walkthrough / Guide / Database ??

Ragnarok Violet's main character, Clide,
and his girl friends, Lily and Karen.
Ragnarok  I had always been a fan of this once (and still is) popular role-playing game.  Ragnarok has been a very significant influence in my life.  (I know.  What a nerd!  Right?!)  Although I have completely stopped playing the game some 7 years ago –– because of the ridiculously increasing number of stupid bots plus the growing popularity of Warcraft’s Defense of the Ancients (DotA) –– I still occasionally reminisce of the time that I was a Level 99 hammer-wielding Blacksmith.  (Yes, I was one of those smithies who was addicted to buy-and-selling, over-upgrading weapons/armors and madly throwing away money that I’ve earned to kill other players! Oh yeah, Mammonite Power!)  Daydreaming of those good ol’ days just makes me nostalgic. /sob
Ever since I promised myself to be serious (a little bit) with life, I stopped playing MMORPGs and generally other computer games that basically consume more than 2 hours a day.  I essentially limited myself to playing “train” games.  You know –– those games that you can play and finish while you're riding the train.  Nevertheless, three days ago while I was searching the iTunes app store for free “train" game applications (Yup, I’m a cheapskate like my smithy who haggles other traders until they give in), I was astounded to see the Ragnarok Violet app on top of the free iPhone applications list.  I was amazed that there was actually such an MMORPG (or so I thought) for the iPod / iPhone / iPad!  I immediately downloaded the app and played the game with much enthusiasm.  I got so excited that I completely ignored my fiancé’s ranting about the movie that she recently watched.  (Boy, was she pissed!) /wah

I played the game for a couple of days and after reaching level 25, I realized that Ragnarok Violet was RO –– but not quite.  I'm aware that it's not online like I initially thought (A bit frustrating, I know) but that's not what I meant.  Everyone agrees that RV still has Prontera’s nostalgic theme song but what I meant by "not quite" was the game's system itself.  For example, the stat point distribution affects character stats differently.  The weapons, armor and equipment are not similar to what we were used to. The monster cards have different descriptions and bonuses.  I can go on and on.  It's just like what the reviews said.  It was Ragnarok Online "minus-and-plus" some features.  Talk about having "TWO" slots for body armor!  Yum yum...

Because of the slight mystification, I wanted to check all the equipment, cards and monsters available in RV so I can build my character efficiently.  Surprisingly, I couldn’t find a single database!  Moreover, I just found out that the app was only released a week ago!  It was quite frustrating not to find a database at first.  However, I soon realized that it's not a hindrance.  It's a challenge!  To start from scratch and find the secrets of the game.  I got even more excited!  Now, I am getting more addicted to the game….like I once were.  My only problem is that I can't really play that much since I work 10 hours a day and my fiancé nags me to death for playing the “childish” 2D game. /ag

And she's right, this addiction is growing.  Can you call it “not addicted” if you had to hide or find an excuse just to level up your character??  At work, the game is still in my head.  I often find myself visualizing my character.  Should I put more agility or vitality?  Should I choose critical hits over accuracy?  Should I hybrid or pure-breed my character?  All those familiar questions keep on ringing in my mind.  If this was not addiction, then what is?! /swt

Frankly, I sure do hope someone will establish a database for RV.  It would be really helpful.  Who knows?!  I might even construct one myself!  …That’s if I can even get away from the clutches of my succubus! /desp
